Pros, amateurs alike turn Golf's Longest Day into tickets into the U.S. Open

Battling through 10 different 36-hole sectional qualifiers across the United States and Canada on Monday, 45 players qualified for berths into the 123rd U.S. Open Championship, where the North Course at the Los Angeles Country Club awaits. PGA Tour pros like Kevin Streelman, Davis Thompson and Adam Eckroat joined tour veterans Stewart Cink (50) and Ryan Armour (46) in next week's Major. LIV players Carlos Ortiz and David Puig also advanced. Long-time minor-league pro Olin Browne Jr., 17 years after he began trying, along with long-time fringe pro Hensen Berry and club pro Andrew Svoboda also played their way into Open field. U.S. Amateur champ Gordon Sargent, as well as college standouts Ludvig Aberg, Barclay Brown and Nick Dunlap advanced into the 156-player field.
