Looking Ahead to the 2026 Major Championship Schedule
Just 101 days covers the 2026 major championship season, beginning in April and over before the end of July. Can a golfer make it three years in a row the game has had golfers take multiple majors, joining Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele, who last year and two year's ago won the PGA and the Open Championship. Rory McIlroy and J.J. Spaun will also face weeks as defending champions.

When the field tees off in Augusta, GA, the world's top-ranked golfer, Rory McIlroy will be defending the championship that made him golf's sixth career grand slam winner, while Scottie Scheffler, is expected to be attempting to win his third green jacket in five years. Scheffler won by four shots in 2024 and was leading by five shots in 2022 before four-putting on the 72nd hole.

Designed by Donald Ross, renovated by Gil Hanse in 2018-19, Aronimink last hosted a major in 1962. Held one week after the Open Championship that year, Gary Player prevailed by a shot for the third of his nine major championships. Bob Goalby, the only other player in the field to finish under-par, finished second and a 22-year-old Jack Nicklaus, playing in his first PGA Championship, shot a final-round 67 to finish tied for third.

Shinnecock Hills will be hosting the sixth U.S. Open championship of the club's history, fifth in the last 40 years. The links course last hosted a U.S. Open in 2018, and produced as champion Brooks Koepka, who joined Raymond Floyd (1986), Corey Pavin (1995) and Retief Goosen (2004) as winners during that span. James Foulis won the first U.S. Open played at Shinnecock Hills, all the way back in 1896.

Hosting its 11th Open Championship in golf's modern era, Royal Birkdale figures to add to another impressive name to its list of previous Open winners. When Jordan Spieth won the 2017 for his third major title, he made it eight multiple-major winners out of nine Open Champions over Royal Birkdale, led by Tom Watson (8), Arnold Palmer (7), Lee Trevino (6), Peter Thomsen (2 of his 5 majors were played over Royal Birkdale), Padraig Harringon (3) and Mark O'Meara (2). Ian Baker-Finch also won an Open Championship over Royal Birkdale in 1991 for his only career major title.
